First birthdays are always special!

One of the many reasons that I love my work as a professional baby and child photographer is the satisfaction I get from helping my clients to document their family’s special moments.

When a family visit my photography studio with their new baby, innocently sleeping, curled up as if they were in the womb, they know all too well that so much will change in such a short amount of time. Parents want to capture those precious first days in their child’s life and have photographs to look back on – something they’ll treasure for the rest of their lives.

By the time clients come back to me for commemorative first birthday photo shoots, the baby has transformed into a bundle of fun and is literally bursting with personality! It’s genuinely an absolute thrill to have them return to me and for me to see how much the baby has changed in that first year.

I have photographed Kuhu twice before this session, one at a new born stage and other at a sitter stage. How time flies, it seems like yesterday that she was this tiny little 8 day old baby all curled up in daddy’s arms for her session, and now she is celebrating her first birthday. Happy birthday pretty girl, she is such a sweet little girl, she enjoyed her cake smash to the fullest.

With a little encouragement from the parents and I, it wasn’t long before my studio was smattered with sponge and icing and the cake smash was underway!

Once the cake shots were done, we made Kuhu sit in a tub to splish and splash about in the bubbles. This created more great photo opportunities for me, whilst also being a practical way of cleaning her up after the cake smash fun.
